Verum Revelatum (10:10 PM)
Lai gasped as she felt his strong, warm arms wrap around her, as her face nestled against his chest. Lyle smelled so clean, so fresh, that her sobbing slowly dimmed to a few whimpers here and there. When he said why he ran, Lai began shaking her head violently into his chest, hoping he would take that as a ‘I would’ve never punched you in the jaw’. Her tiny hands clung onto his shirt, fearing that if she let go, he would run away, and leave her here to her own pain. But, something else sprung up in her, and she could feel it calm her, and numb her limbs. He liked her too, and feared the same things as her, and it made her feel so much better. Lai leaned against him, feeling tired suddenly, as if the whole slew of emotions drained her.
Looking up, her eyes a little puffy from the crying, Lai mummbled, “I must look like a fucking idiot then…like some sobbing mess,” her icy eyes landed on his blue ones and it made her shudder. She desperately didn’t want to let go of him and she didn’t want him to let go of her. He smelled so good, and was so warm…she could stay here forever, and just bask in this warm feeling she had inside. She never felt like this with a man, not even Jeff. It was so hard for her to wrap her head around it before this moment that she would ever…fall in love…but now, it seemed completely obtainable. “I…” she stopped suddenly, not realizing the storm she could’ve started right there an then by saying I love you…”I…am so happy right now…”
Lyle just huffed a soft laugh as he kissed the top of her head gently. “That’s alright I look like a complete dick” he couldn’t help the gentle shrug of his shoulders. Wanting to laugh at pair of them for toeing around each other like they’d been doing. “It’s good that you’re happy here, Alaizabel. Because funnily enough, you’re mine now.” He announced in a vague whisper against her scalp, he left no room for questions in his tone but he did pause long enough for her to shove him away and tell him to get out.
When that didn’t happen Lyle pushed Alaizabel away gently, holding her at arms length, his hands looked massive on her thin shoulders. Raising a brow a gentle smirk curled across his face, “Bunny, really?” his voice was filled with a contented laughter as he tugged Alaizabel back to his chest.
Verum Revelatum (10:10 PM)
Her eyes flashed over to him, watery and doe eyed. She couldn’t hold it back, it was about to burst out of her mouth. She needed to control herself before she sounded to angry, to upset. Biting down on her lips hard, she squeezed her eyes shut, feeling the tears roll down her cheeks. “No Lyle, I’m not okay. I’m confused as fuck right now, and I don’t know what to do with you,” her voice was so high pitched, so shaky, it even frightened her to hear it. Lai was about to explode, and it was going to be a messy, stupid mess…”I had it in my head, that a guy like you, could fall for a girl like me. I mean yeah I know we had two drunken nights together, and I sound so fucking stupid! But you’re not any fucking help either!” her voice got a little louder, but not any less shaky as she shifted in her seat.
“You leave me a note, then the next time I see you you’re angry and drunk, and then today with that kiss!? What the hell was that?! You ran away like…” she tried to find the words as she rose off the sofa, her minuscule form shaking, “You ran away like some stupid fucking lost bunny!” her eyes were watering again, and tears followed the first. “I just, I dunno whether to hate you, or hate myself for even thinking that a poor, punk ass homeless girl, who dropped out of high school with no parents would even have a chance with someone as amazing as you!” Lai began sobbing at this point, her lungs raking for air, “I fucking like you, alright!? I really fucking like you, and I even…” she stopped there, not even able to speak at this point as she grabbed the glass of water and hurled it across the room, watching it shatter in the corner.
Her outburst fell a notch below the tears, the second Lyle actually sat up straight in his chair and saw the tears it felt like ice water was running through his veins. Her words were muted all of them made sense to him but it took a minute for them to really hit him. He was torn somewhere between ecstatic and furious with himself. His blue-grey eyes were wide as he sat there silently, down right shocked. The sound of the shattering glass snapped him out of the daze. Almost roboticaly Lyle shot up from his seat, the chair clattering to the hardwood floor loudly. Not bothering to pick it up Lyle crossed the apartment as if he were on a mission before he enveloped Alaizabel into his arms, pulling her tightly to his chest.
He could feel the tears soaking into his shirt, and he was sure there would be streaks of makeup ruining it. But none of that mattered as he pressed his nose into her hair and mumbled, “Thought you’d want nothing to do with a spoiled trust fund baby like me” His laugh was hesitant and shaky as he desperately tried to get Alaizabel to stop crying. “You’re just this amazing, gorgeous, hard ass, and I’m a pretty boy” It took all of his effort to keep his voice from trembling as he admitted all of this. This wasn’t common for him, he didn’t admit his emotions to people outside of poetry. “Sorry I ran, I thought if I stayed any longer you’d break my jaw, Elvira.”
Verum Revelatum (10:10 PM)
Lai blushed….she…blushed…as she pointed to the counter soundlessly, her embarrassment eating her tongue. Lai didn’t know whether to turn off the vampire show, or just sit their in her stupidity and eat her sorrows away. Biting her lip, and trying to find a way to sit so she didn’t look so…for lack of a better term, exposed…Lai smiled and piqued up. “It’s still hot so be careful,” she was determined to make this a normal night. No heavy drinking, no awkwardness, just normal. But it was too late. Her anxiety bubbled in her stomach as she watched him look at her up and down. Maybe now that he was sober, he didn’t like what he saw. Her tattoos were exposed, and he could practically see all of her.
Lai felt a rush of hurt slam against her chest, knocking the wind out of her. Yeah right, like he would ever fall for her…she was nothing to him, just some easy chick to sleep with when he was mad at the world. Lai stupidly thought it would end up somewhere. Tears threatened to well up in her eyes as she stopped eating, and just stared sadly at the t.v
He tried to keep everything he did in check, because if he wasn’t careful he’d be on Alaizabel in seconds. She was too sober to be interested in him. Picking up the plate he set it down on Evan’s glass dinner table, and plopped into one of the white leather chairs. His head falling back as he slouched into the chair. This was ridiculous. Lyle would be able to hold himself together if it was just his dick talking, but it was far from being just that. He couldn’t bring himself to eat just yet, he had to calm his nerves first.
Glancing at Alaizabel from the corner of his eye, she was silent. Was she back to hating him? She wasn’t being as snippy as she was in the hospital, but maybe she was giving him the cold shoulder like his parents had been doing. “You okay Elvira? You’re not usually this quiet?” His voice seemed too loud and obtrusive as it entered the tense environment. Who was he to speak about what was normal for Alaizabel, he’d known her for less than a week. She probably just wanted him gone from the apartment.
Verum Revelatum (10:10 PM)
Lai had fixed up Lyle’s plate, just like she promised, giving him a good portion to eat since she figured he hadn’t eaten in a while. She had been home for quite some time, compulsively cleaning, cooking, and trying to take her mind off the kiss. Eveytime she thought of it though, her stomach knotted up, and her lips tingled. A smile smile spread across her pink lips as she walked to the sofa, and clicked on the t.v. She was in a black tanktop, and her black panties as she resumed eating her pasta, leaving Lyle’s on the counter top. Lai’s makeup from early was still on, and she wasn’t wearing her piercings when a show came on. It was something about brooding vampire brothers….eh not like there was anything else on.
Tucking her feet beneath her, Lai eat happily, becoming quickly enthralled in the show, forgetting she needed to put pants on when the door swung open. Completely startled, Lai almost choked on her food. “Ack!” her voice squeaked out as she reached for a glass of water nearby. ‘Smooth Lai, Smooth’ was all she could think as she coughed a little, and smiled stupidly. “Uh, welcome home!” her voice was a little shaky as she desperately tried to grab a pillow to cover herself up…Evan had no pillows…
Nervous didn’t begin to explain it. Lyle felt like he was about to come out of his skin at this point. The entire time he was at his parent’s home when they were pointedly ignoring him he floated pleasantly through thoughts of Alaizabel. Trying to calm himself down Lyle rested his forehead against the steering wheel for a moment, reminding himself who the fuck he was. He was Lyle Christian DeLuca, she was just a girl, some weird punk girl, some weird punk girl that turned his brain into much. There was no point in his denying that Alaizabel had somehow worked her way into his system already. Only taking a duffel bag from the back seat for the time being Lyle locked his car, slung the bag on his shoulder and started up to the apartment.
The sight he found upon entering wasn’t what he was expecting to say the least, frozen in shock he looked Alaizabel up and down in all her glory. Clearing his throat roughly, he tried to pass it off, play it cool. There was no way she liked him for anything other than drunken sex. He was just some spoiled rich boy who had no clue how to live without mommy and daddy’s money. “So, I heard there was food here for me?” He spoke in a carefully blank voice.
